Dr Shadi Shahnavaz

I am a senior Family Psychotherapist and Supervisor with 25 years' experience of working with individuals, couples and families from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

I have a great deal of experience with helping parents in the parenting of their children, from infancy up to and through the challenging years of adolescence.

Having a baby brings great joy but it can sometimes be accompanied with post-natal depression which then impacts on the mother-baby bond; I have a lot of experience in helping mothers through the depression in order to enable them to re-connect with their baby. I am recommended by the Whittington Hospital Mother & Baby unit.

I am guest lecturer at various universities such as UCL, and UEL. I present workshops at various conferences such as the Association of Family Therapy international conference and other courses and organised conferences.

I was invited to present 17 programs on different social and family difficulties such as depression, domestic violence and divorce on a national Iranian Television program based in London called Manoto. The programs were diffused in Iran, Europe, Scandinavia and USA.

I did my Doctorate degree on the Trauma of refugees and the impact this has on couple and family relationships. I have a special interest in working with trauma, phobias and depression.

For many years I ran a refugee service, an adolescent service as well as a domestic violence program in the NHS.
